If you have been following us for a while you know that we are a part of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry aka NARI. We really enjoy being involved with the Kansas City Chapter. Being involved in NARI is important to us. Nick Shepard is currently the 2nd Vice President of our chapter. Nick Vaughn has become one of the few certified NARI Professionals locally with his Universal Design certification (UDCP). He is currently enrolled and working through the Certified Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeler (CKBR) class. Nick Shepard is enrolled and working through the Certified Remodeler (CR) coursework. Each of them will sit for their respective exams this spring. We take pride in doing our best to continue to expand our knowledge in the remodeling industry and stay in front of trends and potentially cutting edge design and building materials.
Another thing that we take pride in is the local Remodel of the Year or “REMY” Awards that we have won. We don’t do this to get awards but they are certainly something we are honored to earn. What makes these awards so great are how they are earned.
Once the projects are submitted they are sent to another chapter to judge. The submissions are required to be completed in such a way that the judge will have no idea what company they are judging. They don’t know if they are looking at a company with three employees or one with several hundred employees. There are nine categories that each project is judged on. A perfect score is 90 points. The project to score the most points wins gold, the runner-up silver. No bronze. The all-Star distinction is 85 points or more.
We submitted 4 projects this year. Our categories were, Basement Finish Under $100,000. Entire Home Remodel $500,001 to $750,000. Residential Interior $100,001 to $250,000. And Kitchen Remodel $60,000 to $100,000.
We won Gold and All-Star distinction on the Basement Under $100,000 project. We won Gold on the Entire House $500,001 to $750,000 and Kitchen $60,000 to $100,000 projects. We took home silver on Residential Interior $100,001 to $250,000 missing the gold by .03 points (so close). The evening was topped off by the Basement Finish project taking home one of 4 Best of Show Awards! The project that scores the highest inside 4 overall price ranges wins Best of Show. Our basement finish project took home the Best of Show $75,000 to $150,000 project!
Without our amazing staff and subcontractors, we wouldn’t be where we are now. Thank you to everyone who continues to support us! We sincerely appreciate all of your referrals and we are planning on continuing to improve and hopefully win a few more REMY awards. Are YOU going to be our next award-winning home? Let’s work together and make it happen!
